You Know a Little Bit About a Lot of Things, but You Don't Know Enough About Me...

I love oldies! Don't you just love Oldies? If you don't, you either were raised by non-music loving parents, or you're too young to appreciate the forefathers of your Ipod list, or you don't love to smile?? I don't know who couldn't love the classics that shaped the way of our present radio... though there aren't many on the radio these days that do any justice to those that gave them inspiration. I'm a music junkie, and that little bitty in the title was sung by Peggy Lee... though I always think of Sinatra when this lyric pops into my head? Why is that? Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, music junkie... that's me. Okay well I wasn't always a music junkie; there was a long time in my life as a child where I wasn't even allowed to listen to music! I didn't have a clue what type of song I liked to hear until probably sophomore year of high school (that was four score and, okay no, just 12 or 13 years ago... that's right I'm going to be 28 this year!) Finally, my day had come! And I owe it all to 101.1 WJRR... Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Chevelle, Rob Zombie... thank you Lord for this range of talent! But where did these great musicians learn their talent? Well from Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Johnny Cash, Elvis... Sinatra! :)

(I'm not really sure why this edit saved with a black background? PicMonkey was not being friends with me!)

Speaking of Jimi Hendrix, I also love food... how are these two subjects correlated? Well through Seattle, that's how. Jimi has a magnificent piece of art on Broadway in Seattle, and Seattle has AMAZING food... I also really enjoy cooking, but not enough to go through with my culinary arts major that lasted me all of one semester. So here's the deal with me and school... I have so many strong interests that I have changed my major 3 times because I can't make up my mind! Photography, Culinary Arts, Psychology... and my newest endeavor? Cosmetology... well I'm going to finish Cosmetology, no doubt! And photography? I'm a photographer at heart, and have enough cameras to shoot to my heart's content... the only reason I majored in photography to begin with (which was also the only reason I enrolled in college when I did--3 years after I graduated high school) was to have access to a darkroom, not to learn how to be a photographer. An artist doesn't need to learn how to be an artist, one must only learn how to use the medium they've chosen... I learned how to use my camera in 10th grade for free, why should I pay thousands and thousands of dollars to learn something I already learned? And you can't teach art! You can only teach technique!

With that being said, I also love putting charcoal to paper... I can draw okay, but not well enough to merit adding them to my small array of body art. Yes I have tattoos: one on each foot, one on each wrist, and one on my hip... I have plans for many, many more! I also have gauged ears, only a 2 gauge, nothing disgusting for a female, they're cute and modest :) I can't bring myself to let them shrink either... every time I think I'm going to leave my plugs out and let my holes close up, my hand can't reach my ear lobes! It's the damn-dist thing! Hopefully my gorgeous little nugget won't grow up to be ashamed or embarrassed of his oldies loving, tattooed, ear gauged Momma! My son is 3, his name is Grayson and I LOVE HIM TO PIECES! He's a huge pain in my ass some times... most of the time... but he's the brightest 3 year old I know (yes I know, every mom thinks that of their own kids but really if only you met him!) He takes after me with his very bold personality, and his bare-all vocabulary... he's not afraid to tell you what's on his mind... sometimes I think it's adorable, but when he's expressing his utter dislike for me because I took his dinosaurs away for playing improperly, it's not so adorable!

(again with the black background?? I swear I said transparent!)

But that little guy loves when I make him something! And when I show him something I've made for myself? "That's cute Mommy!" I love to sew and now, getting to the point... I'm writing to you on an at least weekly basis about my sewing endeavors! My first endeavor? To sew my way through Cotton & Curls... I love her style and my closet can use a bit of refreshing and I'm new to using a sewing machine so I thought, what better way to learn than to follow her tutorials! Along the way they'll be some other crafty tid bits :) I hope you find your way laughing through my life with me, and I hope you'll find some inspiration to laugh and live through yours!

P.S. As you may have noticed, I also like to write, and once I finish my Cosmetology program, I've finally decided I will finish my Bachelors in Art and in Creative Writing... ciao for now!
