Have you seen Julie & Julia? When I watch this film, I get all dreamy eyed and imagine myself as a literary genius... I so wish I could use words as eloquently as they are used in that film! I'm not so much jealous of the food of the movie, though I do LOVE to cook (and eat!) and I do very much admire Julia Child.. however I'm more of a 30 minutes or less kind of girl in the kitchen... but, oh! how the words flow in that film!
Anywho, I've recently moved my son and I back to Florida and in with my mother for a short time, and I'm still looking for work so I'm feeling insanely unproductive and very much like a loser to be quite honest. So my mom and I were sitting around the house, or walking around the store, or something... and I decided it would be great if I sewed my way through a sewing book because I really enjoy sewing but I'm not as knowledgeable as I'd like to be; sewing books that are worth anything are pretty expensive, even the Kindle editions; so then I started meandering around Pinterest and it hit me... I LOVE Cotton & Curls!! I should sew my way through her blog! She's brilliant, I've made a few things of hers already so I'm familiar with following her tutorials, and I love everything she posts!
So there you have it kids... I'm going to sew my way through Cotton & Curls. Starting with her very first post of June 22, 2010. I'm pretty enthusiastic about this project I've assigned myself; I hope to walk away from this knowing how to hone in on my creativity... see I'm a right-brain person, as they say: art, Lit and all that jazz... I can draw, I can write, and I can sing, but I'm better when told what to create and don't do well to just sit down in front of blankness and walk away an hour later with a master piece... this is what I hope to change.
My first C & C master piece will have to wait: I've found the perfect fabric but I didn't realize I was just about an inch and a half shy of my elastic stash... Ciao for now :)
