Well hey there kids :) so I feel a bit of a slacker because my first C & C project is still on the back burner, at least until this weekend when I mosey myself to the nearest JoAnn's to get some more elastic... however, I have not been neglecting my sewing machine!
See, I, much like the rest of the world, spend a LOT of time on Pinterest... but, I try to actually create the things on my Pinterest boards... I'm happy to say I've tried at least 80 % of the recipes I've Pinned, and I've created at least half of the refashions that I've Pinned... it was easier to do when I didn't have cable to distract me, or a reading project that I'm working through simultaneously (the Rory Gilmore Reading List! did you watch this show?? I LOVED it!) so anyway, I have a shirt pinned (the pin doesn't lead to anywhere special, just a photobucket picture or else I'd link you there) that I've been loving and had been wanting to make and I had the perfect plain, white, long-sleeve shirt to refashion accordingly but I didn't have any lace... fortunately, do to my previously unmentioned unfortunate event, I have found myself living temporarily with my mother and she happened to have a short supply of white lace... PERFECT! So...
I didn't take a before shot because... well... I forgot, okay?! But all this shirt started as was a long sleeve white cotton shirt from Target... it had a little higher neckline so I took it down using the cut - halfway - then - fold - over - for - a - pattern trick, used my double needle (which is my favorite to use, I'm not sure why) to make it all nice and pro looking and I used the original sleeves as patterns to cut my lace. Despite giving the lace a little extra seem allowance, the sleeves were still too tight to go over my knobby elbow's originally--I was trying to keep the sleeves a little longer but not quite long sleeve--think Jacky-O--but when using lace for sleeves one must remember in the future it is better for the stretch to go across the arm and not down it so I ended up needing to bring the sleeves up a bit shorter... all in all I'm happy with it and it will go GREAT with my first C & C project :)
Now go make something from your Pinterest boards! Ciao for now ;)
